I hope you'll forgive me still for not being able yet to respond to every comment or to visit each of you to thank you personally for your visits and lovely comments. I have about two more weeks before I can sit comfortably for any length of time to write comments. I've tried to catch a few of you in the past few days but it's a drop in the proverbial bucket, I'm afraid. Please do know that I cherish your visits and I'll be by to visit you as soon as I can. I had this art work completed before my surgery but was saving it for closer to the 4th of July holiday.
The title saying has many variations - as American as...motherhood, baseball and apple pie...baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet...as baseball and apple pie. And while any version is relatively new to the American lexicon, the symbols and the sentiment are not. Apple pie is mentioned as early as 1649 in a Plymouth colony journal and the Pennsylvania Dutch perfected the pastry along with other fruit pie variations...
As many of you are aware, Lianne is no longer with us. I am her son, Gordie, and have kept her account active to preserve the passion she had with her art and this community. Please see below for a "final note" she posted with a few of the last pieces she completed before passing away in November of 2015.
