Description
Deer hunting season here in New York - as it is over much of the country - and in the newly chopped cornfields, many of these beautiful animals are shot. Even the welcoming warmth of the sugar shanty and the colorful hills provides no shelter.

That photo itself tells a story. With man invading their environment, those gentle creatures have no place to hide. Great snapshot, Lianne! V/f

Distress me that such beautiful creatures are hunted and killed. That aside it is a beautiful scene that you have captured Lianne, the colours are vibrant and the composition excellent. v/f/tw/fb
Lianne Schneider replied:
Thanks so much sweet man - I hate that they are hunted too...but I understand the farmers' plight too. Sort of like the problem with parrots in Australia...they aren't endangered and can do so much damage. But yes, these deer are such lovely gentle creatures it's a shame. Thank you so much my friend. xo

Lianne~Returned to give this one another vote. Beautiful work. Wyoming is such a hunting state, but our land was/is a haven for the animals.
Lianne Schneider replied:
You're always too kind Lenore - can't tell you how much your support means to me. Thank you so much. I'm so glad the animals are safe with you - I hate hunting season!

It is a beautiful photo, Lianne, but it is a very sad story. This get my vote.
Lianne Schneider replied:
I like to think that these beautiful creatures escaped the hunters for one more season. Thank you so much Madeline.

An identical landscape scene and situation where I live in the country- for some a bitter/sweet environment to live in. For hunters, it's like the old fish in a barrel scenario! Despite that, your image is stunningly beautiful and so are the pair of deer!! Just don't like the hunting done so close to farms and homes!
Lianne Schneider replied:
I totally agree with you Will - breaks my heart and yet I understand the rationale for hunting in general to keep the deer population manageable so there's enough food for them and so too many crops aren't destroyed. But my niece was nearly killed last year by a stray bullet that actually came through her living room window - hunters far too close to the house. And now with rifle permits I can't imagine how many tragedies there will be. But thank you for your lovely comment on the image itself. I appreciate it so much Will.
