Description
I have a tremendous backlog of paintings I did during my two post-surgical recovery periods and most of them are experimental - trying various digital painting techniques and styles, with or without textures. All are a part of the digital learning curve for me and I've yet to settle on a single style I'd call my own. I'm going to post a number of them fairly close together and would really welcome constructive insights from those of you who are old hands at this or just naturally better painters - lol.
And I failed to credit Distressed Jewell on Flickr for this beautiful texture.
Again, please forgive me if I cannot respond to each comment in a truly timely fashion - I'm trying to say my thank yous by visiting each of you instead. I do thank you always for your marvelous support and encouragement. If I haven't been by your page to express my gratitude by visiting your work, I will get there soon, I promise.
FROM - THE WEATHER WINDOW at weather.mailasail.com
When the wind starts to blow over smooth water there are small frictional effects. These create, first, cat's paws and, then, ripples on the water. As the wind increases, the ripples get larger until they soon become large enough to be pushed along by the wind. However, the movement of these wavelets is slower than the wind and the pushing of the wind on them causes an increase in size until they become steep enough to break. Typically this starts to happen when the wind is about force 3 on the Beaufort scale.
Increasing wind strength increases the wave size and the number of breaking waves increases simply because of the wind making steeper and steeper waves that are too high for their wavelength.
As the wind increases further, there are several quite well defined phases, for example when spray starts to occur and when foam is created.

Lianne - Am enjoying all your waves and seascapes! Love the inclusion of the seagulls and the birds. Yes, the sea is as temperamental as humans and we have to respect and give it space just as we give space to people who may not be feeling the same as always...That's how I interpret this metaphorically. Trust you have fully recovered and continuing with your great work! Faved and Voted!

Leanne, This is another very beautiful seascape.I read your description about settling for a style.Well,I love this style here and I got the same feeling from the other seascape. The seagull is so well placed to give that uplifting feeling as he soars above the waves.Love the rich red-browns of the rocks. And also that distant flock of gulls flying high! Such a perfect touch! v/f

F/v72 WOW, Lianne! I keep writing WOW because you aren't here to hear me saying WOW! I think you do have an eternal connection to the sea; your work with the ocean and it's beautiful seascapes and creatures is just so good:>) Your boats and lighthouses, too, but I could go on all night:>) Your descriptions are filled with wonderful information and they are fun to read. Thank you, my artist friend, for all the pleasure you bring!

V/F Hello, dear friend - so nice to meet up with you over another stunningly lovely work of art. You ask for constructive insight; I can honestly say (and sleep well at night) that I don't see how you can improve on this. The colors are magnificent, the texture work is exceptional, and it looks like the usual Lianne style that is so appealing to your fans:>) Accept it - you're exceptional:>)
